Exploring New Horizons: Opportunities in the Leather Value Chain for Investors and Entrepreneurs.

Exploring New Horizons: Opportunities in the Leather Value Chain for Investors and Entrepreneurs.

The leather industry has a long and rich history, dating back to ancient times. Today, it remains an important contributor to the global economy. The leather value chain comprises several stages, starting with the procurement of raw materials such as hides and skins. The hides and skins are then processed, tanned, and finished, before being used to manufacture a wide range of products, from shoes and bags to upholstery and car seats.

There are many opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs to participate in the leather value chain. New technologies and innovations are emerging that are transforming the way leather is produced and used, creating exciting opportunities for those willing to embrace change.

The African vibe/trend is a great way to start investing in the leather value chain. The common African leather bags, shoes and other accessories are commanding huge Forex earnings.

Investing in the Leather Value Chain.

Investing in the leather value chain can provide a wide range of opportunities for investors looking to diversify their portfolio and entrepreneurs looking to enter a growing market. The leather industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, and its importance and value are only expected to grow in the coming years.

This is a major niche that can be harnessed, an entrepreneur can leverage on this to create a new revenue stream. These products are available in various designs, colors and sizes in Nigeria. The leather business to business summit last year featured some of these products.

Here are some other potential areas for investment in the leather value chain:

1. Sustainable and Ethical Leather Production – Consumers are increasingly demanding sustainable and ethical products, and the leather industry is no exception. Investing in companies that focus on sustainable and ethical leather production is a smart move that can provide attractive returns while also contributing to a better world.

2. Leather Processing and Tanning – Investing in leather processing and tanning technology can lead to significant gains. New technologies are emerging that are transforming the way leather is processed and tanned, creating greater efficiency and reducing environmental impacts.

3. Leather Manufacturing – The leather value chain comprises several stages, and investing in leather manufacturing can yield lucrative returns. Opportunities exist in manufacturing leather goods such as shoes, bags, upholstery and car seats. As consumers continue to demand high-quality and sustainable products, entrepreneurs that embrace new trends are well-positioned for success.

4. Online Leather Trading Platforms – Online platforms that connect leather producers with buyers can be a profitable investment. These platforms create new ways to reduce transactional costs, improve transparency, and increase efficiency in the leather value chain.

Investing in the leather value chain can be a profitable move, but it is important to undertake thorough research and due diligence to identify the best opportunities. As the market continues to shift with consumer demands, businesses and investors that can adapt to the changing industry landscape are most likely to thrive.

FOOD SAFETY ALERT: FOOD HANDLING AND MARKETING.

A concerned citizen sent me this picture, he was wondering why these butchers were washing goats in this dirty water.

A more intense look at the picture will show various activities going on here: 1) slaughtering is going on beside the 2 buildings.

2)Ponmo processing also ongoing.

3) A processor is carrying  processed hides, another processor fetching this same dirty water for processing.

4) A table with processed hides and some quarters.

5) Horns and other wastes generated from slaughtering.

6) Did you notice the person sitting on the white bucket? guess what the person is doing?

Do you know where these animal parts are been sold? Are you sure of what you are eating?

Stay safe always, buy only  #beef, #beef-products certified wholesome from markets traceable to registered abattoirs only.

A thousand and one things are wrong with this picture. Food safety is everybody's business, stay safe.

This picture was taken by this concerned citizen while in traffic on the long bridge.

Ponmo Summit 2023 : discouraging the consumption of animal hides.

The race to revive the leather industry is on and a multifaceted approach is needed to tap into the $300 billion dollars revenue opportunities in the leather value chain.

Presently 88% of animal hides in Nigeria is processed as food, the popular Ponmo while only 12% is available for the leather industry.

The diversification of the economy by promoting industrialization in other sectors can be achieved if more attention is given to the leather value chain. A policy to increase in the proportion of animal hides available for the leather industry is a good place to start the campaign to discourage the consumption of ponmo.

The love for ponmo is depriving us of revenue from foreign investment through trading of leather goods and accessories as well as stifling growth of the leather industry. The leather value chain is  enormous with the capacity to generate over 500,000 jobs thereby eliminating unemployment as well as reducing poverty level.

The questions we should ask now are : how can we get more animal hides for leather production? how can we tap into this huge Forex earnings? what can we do to discourage the eating of these hides? what incentives can be given to ponmo processors//dealers so that hides will move out of food chain to leather chain?

These answers will form a pathway for the desired industrialization drive as well as promotion of the leather value chain as discussed at the ponmo summit 2023.

How can the consumption of hides  be discouraged?  create an awareness about the health implications of ponmo. It is no news that eating ponmo has been linked to cancer, liver and kidney disease e.t.c

Do you know that ponmo is fried using animal fat called tallow?

Do you know the processors reuse these oils severally without discarding ?

Do you know that the particles in the oil from fried ponmo are not drained out, increasing the possibility of poisoning due to bacteria growth?

Studies have shown that animal fat is rich in  saturated fat which can cause heart disease as well as obesity. Further studies has shown that oils that foams/bubbles or has changed color should not be reused and that reusing oil results in release of free radicals in the body causing inflammations and cancer.     The free radicals released in the body has also been linked to central nervous toxicity

Look at the oil used for frying ponmo.

HALAL MEAT: HOW TO TAP INTO THE MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY.

Halal is Arabic for permissible. Halal food is that which adheres to Islamic law, as defined in the Koran. The Islamic form of slaughtering animals or poultry, dhabiha, involves killing through a cut to the jugular vein, carotid artery and windpipe.

The global halal meat market size is expected to grow at a Compound annual growth rate of 7.8% during the forecast period (2021–2030). Growing consumer awareness about the certification methods that offer varied benefits is anticipated to be a major driving factor boosting the demand for halal-certified products.

The perception attributed to the methods is important while knowing the choice of customers in consideration with the product they would prefer to buy.

The halal meat market is a growing market as people are becoming more aware of the health benefits it provides. More than 50% of non-Muslims are aware of the concept of ‘halal’ that is associated with cleanliness and hygiene.

It is a healthy way to consume meat because you are sure its hygienically processed and all food safety protocols are adopted.

2) It is a good niche market if you want to join the exporting arm of the meat industry .The importation of meat and poultry products into Gulf Cooperation Council (“GCC”) nations, and other Islamic countries, is big business

Ijebu Ponmo : Inside story of ponmo business in Ogun State community.

Ijebu Ponmo, what is it really? Is Ijebu Ponmo wholesome? is Ijebu Ponmo really from IJEBU? Is this Ijebu Ponmo from cattle hides?

Lets go into the Ogun community where its all happening.

Inside multi-million naira ponmo business in Ogun community. According to this story in the Nation newspaper published on 1/Oct/2022. One of the merchants, Aliu Adewale interviewed said, “The cow skin comes in containers and a container contains a minimum of 4,000 pieces.

Containers carrying small sizes of cow skin cost over N25 million each.“Some people prepare them dry and send them abroad. But I don’t export mine.

Women come from places like Ondo, Lagos, Ibadan and so on to buy it. “The dry one is even sold in some supermarkets. The number of women involved in this business is very high. ”Quantifying the natives involved in the business, he said: “Fifty per cent of our people are into the business. There are people who only travel to the north and other places like the Sudan to bring in the cow skin. “Another set of people will go and buy from them and process it and another set will come to Ijebu Igbo from different locations to buy it.

“The cows that are killed in Nigeria are not enough to meet the quantity of ponmo that we process, so people go outside Nigeria to get it. “Besides the amount of sunshine in Nigeria cannot be compared with what obtains in the Sudan. The intensity of sunshine in their country makes their cow skin to be different from ours.” read more here

There really is there is no Ponmo IJEBU, what we have is hides imported to the country and procured from the North and processed in Ogun state. This is then distributed to various states in the country. Is it true that animals slaughtered is not sufficient for ponmo? this is not true: Lagos alone slaughters 6,000 heads of cattle daily, i believe processing these should be enough. There are abattoirs all over the country and i believe the hides processed can be sufficient. watch this video about ponmo ijebu HERE

Economic implications of buying ijebu Ponmo.

 1) Butchers are not selling the hides as more merchants are joining the ijebu ponmo trade. 2) Ponmo sellers dealing in authentic ponmo are recording low sales, return investment is low. 3) Legitimate investors in the ponmo business are winding down activities.

What next? tell someone to tell someone that Ijebu Ponmo is not really ponmo. The hides are not tracable, you dont know which animals you are consuming. The ponmo is laced with preservatives making these non-edible.

PONMO: There is more to the consumption of Ponmo

Sometime ago there was an influx of bad ponmo into the country. These bad ponmo are actually hides and skin meant for the leather industry that some unscrupulous merchants smuggle and sell for human consumption. These ponmo are identified by the smell of the chemicals added to preserve the leather and unusual thickness. There was a raid on certain facilities with confiscation of the products and arrest of some merchants. Read more here.

Do you know that some bad elements have devised other modes of operation?

Do you know that hides and skin meant for leather are still processed and sold to consumers?

Do you know that some merchants go to the north to buy hides and skin for leather and process?

Do you know that the popular Ponmo Ijebu is not wholesome?

Do you know that merchants go to the north procure hides and skin meant for leather industry and process for consumption?

Do you know that in the north the leather merchants say" TAKALAMINKANO, NAMAN LAGOS?

Meaning shoe in Kano is meat in Lagos.

Let me show you the ponmo ijebu before and after processing.

Evaluation of the use of garri suspension to manage diarrhoea.

Garri can be used to treat diarrhoea. When a person has diarrhoea, just give the person soaked garri and the diarrhoea will stop because the garri absorbs the toxins that go into the intestine thus promoting gut health. Diarrhoea can readily lead to dehydration if not properly handled.

Dehydration if not corrected can lead to death depending on the rate and length of the period. Diarrhoea can be managed locally using the sugar-salt solution, the oral rehydration therapy( ORT).
The use of garri water suspension has been used to stop diarrhoea in homes this is common in the rural environment.
Did you know that soaking garri in water for few minutes and decanting the water is an instant source of energy and vitamins? Yes garri water is also beneficial. A recent study has shown the efficacy of using the garri suspension to manage diarrhoea.

The aim of the study was to identify a suitable substrate for oral re-hydration solution at home. The study used staple from cassava which is garri. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of cassava-salt suspension (CSS) prepared from a dietary staple, cassava, with added sodium chloride.

The results were compared with those of standard World Health Organization (WHO) recommended ORS. One hundred thirty-two dehydrated children aged between 6 and 24 months with acute diarrhoea of less than 3 days duration were chosen for the study and randomly re-hydrated with CSS or WHO-ORS. The intake of ORS (CSS or WHO-ORS), water, and food was comparable in both groups. The mean stool output on day 1, total stool output, and duration of diarrhoea were 45.3 +/- 37.3 g/kg, 60.8 +/- 58.9 g/kg, and 18.9 +/- 22.4 h for the group on CSS.

These are significantly different from the corresponding values of 69.7 +/- 64.9 g/kg, 88.2 +/- 100.4 g/kg, and 28.2 +/- 27.0 h obtained for controls. Failure of therapy occurred in four children on CSS (6%) and three children on WHO-ORS (4.5%).

It is concluded that CSS is both efficacious and safe for use as an ORS, particularly in the home management of acute diarrhoea in children. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7980837/)

Learn why supporting your local butchers is an invaluable part of sustaining a healthy economy and environment.

Learn why supporting your local butchers is an invaluable part of sustaining a healthy economy and environment.

Local butchers have been an integral part of our economy and environment for centuries. They provide us with fresh, quality meat that can be used to make meals for ourselves or those we love. As consumers become increasingly aware of the environmental impact their food choices have on the planet, local butchers are becoming more important than ever before in terms of protecting our economy and environment.

In this blog post, we’ll explore why local butchers are so crucial to both these aspects and what steps you can take if you want to support them within your community.

The Benefits Of Shopping Locally For Meat.

Shopping locally has a number of benefits when it comes to purchasing meat.

• Quality – Local butcher shops offer superior cuts at competitive prices because they source directly from small farmers who practice humane animal husbandry methods; free range animals tend to produce higher quality meats due to increased exercise which results in leaner muscle development, better flavor profiles and improved texture overall.

• Freshness– Local butcher shops typically process orders quickly ensuring customers receive fresher product delivered faster than conventional stores whose supply chains may involve multiple middlemen sometimes resulting in weeks between farm gate delivery up until point-of sale purchase by consumer.  This reduces risk associated with spoilage over time'.  Meat marts allow customers access to display cubicles  enabling shoppers inspect goods.  Advanced bookings also offers further protection against potential mishandling during transit stages prior arriving store shelves ready for consumption .

• Support The Economy & Environment - By shopping at independent businesses like a local butcher shop  helps ensure money circulates through communities rather being funneled off elsewhere thus boosting area economies. This also supports smaller scale sustainable farming practices which helps to reduce negative impacts agriculture production often entails.

Additionally since majority ingredients are sourced nearby there is reduced need to transport materials long distances hence cutting carbon emissions significantly benefiting health climate change initiatives world wide .

Making A Difference Through Your Purchases.

It's never been easier today than it was even just five years ago for people looking to make conscious decisions about where they buy their food from—especially when it comes down specifically selecting sources. Sustainably raised livestock products not considered harmful  to ecosystems surrounding them and also welfare of the animals .

Fortunately there ways individuals able contribute positive shift away industrialized agriculture towards more ethical forms sourcing proteins without breaking bank doing so :

• Buy Directly From Butchers – Visit nearest reputable Butcher shop ask questions regarding origin/source Suppliers usually determine whether items purchased meet personal standards regards sustainability humaneness .

Butchers usually happy to discuss details of  processes involved in procuring meat they sell including variety cuts available. Butchers  also discusses the grades  ranging from high end prime low end budget friendly options .The customers' preference  is always a pleasant experience working  on a one on one basis. The benefit  direct dealing is  having trustworthiness, accountability and transparency is guaranteed knowing exactly what they are getting  with every visit.

• Join Community Supported Meat Sharing  Programmes.(CSMSP)  - Participate CSMSP programs join collective share responsibility. This reduces costs risks with reward of assorted  parts.

CSMSP  depending location and provider- setup cooperation system allows members access fresh meat at lowest prices  while simultaneously investing in future agricultural endeavors. This strengthens localized networks and  aids mutual solidarity among participants.

Lastly dont forget to check labels for certification information.

Conclusion: It goes without saying how essential  the role butchers  play providing citizens safe nutritious beef.  The rise  in awareness importance  of eating ethically raised livestock coupled with efforts  to move away from reliance on heavily dependent processed convenience beef moves us back  to basics of real wholesome  dishes for healthier happier lifestyles..

Therefore next consider replenishing stock protein supplies remember look no farther than your neighborhood butcher Shop  and reap rewards supporting locals sustaining planet same time ...

Green approaches to managing waste from slaughter houses.

The amount of waste generated by slaughterhouses is a growing concern for many communities. In order to address this issue, it’s important that we consider green approaches for managing these wastes in an environmentally friendly way.

This blog post will explore the various green strategies available and discuss why they are beneficial from both an environmental and economic standpoint.

By adopting more sustainable methods of dealing with slaughterhouse waste, businesses can not only reduce their impact on the environment but also save money in the long run.

What Is Slaughterhouse Waste? The term ‘slaughterhouse waste’ generally refers to any type of material produced during animal processing activities at a meat-processing facility or abattoir such as blood, fat, bone meal and other organic materials resulting from carcass disposal processes.

It may also include wastewater used in cleaning operations which contains high levels of pollutants including nitrogenous compounds (ammonia), phosphates (phosphorus) and heavy metals like lead or zinc which have been introduced into water systems through improper use or management techniques employed by some facilities over time.

These contaminants pose serious risks to human health if left untreated before entering our waterways so proper management practices must be implemented to ensure safe disposal procedures are followed at all times

Benefits Of Green Approaches For Managing Wastes From Slaughter Houses.

Implementing green solutions when dealing with slaughter house wastes has numerous benefits: ranging from improved air quality due to reduced odors associated with traditional rendering plants; decreased energy consumption since less fuel is needed for transportation; lower costs related to disposing hazardous materials offsite; better working conditions within local neighborhoods because there won't be large piles of rotting animal remains present outside abattoirs anymore plus potential savings on insurance premiums.

Additionally using renewable sources such as biodigesters can help generate biogas which can then power nearby homes instead relying heavily polluting fossil fuels - making it even more attractive proposition overall!

Finally implementing best practice technologies like automated sorting machines allow us separate out different types recyclable items quickly efficiently while still maintaining safety standards set forth industry guidelines ensuring no contamination enters food chain either directly indirectly via leaching etc... All these advantages combined make going down route much greener approach managing slaughter house wastes compared older ways doing things!

Strategies To Reduce Pollution And Improve Efficiency At Slaughterhouses.

There are several strategies that can be put into place in order improve efficiency manage pollution output slaughter houses:
Firstly: installing modern equipment necessary to process larger amounts animals. The faster reducing turnaround times thus decreasing waiting periods of customers who want purchase fresh produce.

Secondly: investing in alternative energy sources mentioned earlier provide clean reliable source powering the abattoir.

Thirdly : setting up effective treatment system to handle wastewater safely preventing any harmful toxins seeping back into surrounding ecosystems.

Lastly:recycling reusable parts products whenever possible example bones, fats, oils horns, hides hooves wool collagen others – utilizing them create new goods rather than just throwing away would greatly benefit bottom line business sustainability wise.

In addition to above measures, enforcing strict regulations and penalty fines for those failing to comply would go long way towards keeping everyone accountable and responsible.

Actions taken on a day to day basis ultimately leads to a healthier cleaner, safer, society and world .

In conclusion : ultimately implementing comprehensive policies handling slaughter house waste is key to tackling problem and achieving greater success protecting environment for future generations. There are multiple options available to choose from ,each its own unique advantages /disadvantages depending on the particular situation.

However one thing is certain : taking proactive steps now is always better option than waiting until damage is done to an irreversible point. Thus looking for alternatives should start sooner than later.
I highly recommended  a move to a  path of sustainability progress by moving the world closer to becoming fully Eco-friendly planet !

Animal waste management in the abattoir.

Utilizing sustainable strategies for effective animal waste management in abattoirs:Maximizing Efficiency with Sustainable Animal Waste Strategies in Abattoirs.

Learn how to effectively manage animal waste in abattoirs with sustainable strategies.

Discover ways to minimize impact on the environment, reduce costs, and maximize efficiency. Get the facts now for a more efficient and responsible approach to animal waste management.

Animal waste management in abattoirs is a crucial element of the meat industry. Not only does it have an impact on operational efficiency, but also affects public health and safety due to its potential for contamination with bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

It is therefore essential that effective strategies are implemented to ensure proper disposal of animal waste products from abattoirs in order to prevent environmental degradation as well as protect human health.

Sustainable strategies can be used effectively for managing animal wastes at slaughterhouses which include composting or incineration techniques among others; these approaches not only reduce costs associated with disposing animal remains but also provide additional benefits such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality by eliminating odors caused by decomposition processes.

In this blog post we will explore some sustainable methods utilized for efficient management of animal wastes generated within an abattoir environment along with their advantages over traditional practices like burying carcasses or dumping them into water bodies nearby the facility grounds.

Composting Animal Waste Products: One popular method employed at many slaughterhouses involves transforming organic matter present in dead animals into useful fertilizers through composting procedures; this process requires minimal infrastructure investment while ensuring safe disposal of biological material without fear of spreading diseases/contaminants across surrounding areas near the facilities (as opposed to burial).

The benefit derived from composted manure includes improved soil fertility leading directly towards enhanced crop yields - thus making it highly beneficial especially when farming activities occur close-by where hazardous materials could otherwise seep out during rainstorms if buried underground instead (without proper containment measures).

Additionally, utilizing biodegradable bags made specifically designed for collecting and storing organics helps further minimize risks posed via fly maggots breeding inside open containers left outside exposed elements too long periods time before collection takes place! Incinerating Animal Waste Products:

Another common strategy followed around most modern day slaughterhouse operations utilizes high temperature incineration systems designed specially tailored according meet local regulations governing emission levels pollutants released after burning off organic matter contained within carcasses themselves – resulting reduced atmospheric pollution alongside decreased risk microbial infections spread amongst living organisms nearby vicinity sites where large scale livestock processing occurs regularly basis throughout year round seasons alike!

These specialized machines often require significant investments capital up front however they offer quick turnaround times compared other available options since combustion rates incredibly high enough break down even toughest pieces bone tissue quickly and efficiently  in a manner possible leaving behind nothing more than harmless ashes ash residue.

Benefits Of Utilizing Sustainable Strategies For Managing Abattoir Wastes Effectively:

utilizing sustainable strategies such as composting and incineration techniques provides several benefits. These include lowered operational costs while minimizing environmental damage caused by improper handling/disposal methods traditionally adopted in past decades due their lack awareness regarding consequences following bad decisions.

We cannot afford to remain ignorant any longer given current state of things happening around us now, all must act fast  to adopt cleaner ways of doing business. This saves us trouble to find entire ecosystem destroyed beyond repair irreversible damage.

Waste can also be used as a source of power (bio gas), this will reduce cost in the facility if properly managed.

Transforming The Red Meat Value Chain: Improving Public Health in the 21st Century.

Transforming The Red Meat Value Chain: Improving Public Health in the 21st Century

The traditional way of producing and marketing red meat has been a major source of public health concerns for decades. From food safety to environmental pollution, the production and sale of red meat has had a widespread impact on our society. But with advances in technology and understanding, there is much hope that we can improve the red meat value chain for the betterment of public health.

Read on to learn more about how we could potentially transform the red meat value chain to improve public health in the 21st century!

Introduction

The red meat value chain is a complex system that involves many different players, from farmers and ranchers to processors, retailers, and consumers. Each player has a unique set of needs and constraints, and the interactions between them can have important implications for public health.

In recent years, there has been growing concern about the potential health risks associated with red meat consumption. These concerns have led to calls for changes in the way the red meat value chain operates, in order to improve public health.

There is no single solution to the problem of improving public health in the red meat value chain. However, a number of proposals have been put forward that would address some of the key issues.

This article will provide an overview of the current state of the red meat value chain and public health concerns related to it. It will then discuss some of the proposed solutions for improving public health in the context of the value chain.

Definition and Overview of the Red Meat Value Chain

The red meat value chain is the process by which raw materials are converted into finished products that are ready for consumption. The chain involves a number of different actors, including farmers, feedlots, slaughterhouses, processors, retailers, and consumers.

The health of the red meat value chain is of paramount importance to public health. The World Health Organization has estimated that as much as 80% of all non-communicable diseases are attributable to dietary factors, and red meat is a major contributor to dietary risk. Consuming too much red meat can lead to obesity, heart disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases.

In order to improve public health, it is essential to transform the red meat value chain. This means making changes at every stage of the process in order to make red meat healthier. This includes changes such as breeding healthier livestock, providing them with better quality feed, and using more humane methods of slaughter.

It is also important to increase transparency throughout the red meat value chain so that consumers can make informed choices about the products they purchase. To this end, labeling should accurately reflect the content of products and provide information on how the animals were raised and slaughtered. Finally, it is imperative that government policies support these efforts to improve the red meat value chain and protect public health.

So what can be done to improve the red meat value chain and make it more sustainable? Below are three possible solutions:

1. Improve animal husbandry practices: One way to make livestock production more sustainable is to improve  animal husbandry practices. This can involve switching from intensive, industrialized farming methods to alternative systems such as organic, pasture-based and agroforestry approaches. These approaches result in higher animal welfare standards, make better use of natural resources and reduce emissions.

2. Increase investment in research and development: More research and development needs to be done in the red meat sector to improve production efficiency and reduce environmental impacts. This could include developing new animal breeds that require less energy, water or feed inputs, as well as innovating feed formulations to reduce emissions or increase nutrient profiles.

3. Promote responsible consumption: Finally, it is important to address public attitudes toward red meat. This could include educational campaigns about the health benefits of consuming lean red meats such as bison and venison, as well as strategies for reducing overall meat consumption through plant-based diets or other dietary interventions.

Overall, implementing these strategies will help create a more sustainable and healthy red meat value chain that can continue to support public health in the 21st century.

The Role of Government in Transforming the Value Chain

The role of government in transforming the red meat value chain is to invest in and support research and development to improve food safety and quality, while also promoting policies and initiatives that encourage industry consolidation and modernization.

There are two key ways in which the government can help transform the red meat value chain: by investing in research and development to improve food safety and quality; and by promoting policies and initiatives that encourage industry consolidation and modernization. In addition to supporting research on food safety

Conclusion

The red meat value chain can play an important role in promoting public health and sustainability. It is not only a way to meet the changing needs of consumers but also holds great potential for securing healthier, safer and more equitable food systems worldwide.

By taking into account advances in technology and innovation, societies should take steps to transform their red meat value chain as part of larger efforts to foster better nutrition outcomes across populations, protect the environment and support farmers with sustainable market access.

With these actions it will be possible to build a 21st century food system that's beneficial for everyone involved.
