In pig farming the major aim is to produce large litter sizes that are healthy with high reproductive capacity. The success in pig farming is hinged on genetics as the pig cannot exceed the genetic capacity hence a good genetic line is chosen.
Housing and management also influences the outcome of venture, proper housing and animal management is another crucial point. The major key to success is feeding programme, the animals must have access to good quality feed ,balanced and readily available.
The importance of feed in the boar cannot be overemphasized as the quality of sperm produced will set the genetic track for the farm. When preparing the feed, you need to ensure that all ingredients that will ensure the following are available; proper muscle development, proper bone development and production of high quality and quantity of sperm.
The feed should provide the necessary daily feed intake which must contain dietary energy and protein, additives and vitamins such as organic selenium, vitamin E, zinc, biotin, vitamin C.
The breeding boars must be mature animals, so also must the to sows. An underweight or overweight boar or sow will often result in breeding failure, hence feeding should be monitored. Boar libido unlike sperm production, cannot be easily manipulated by changing dietary protein and energy levels but its a known fact only prolonged conditions of over-feeding or under-feeding, and excessive extreme cases of body condition change, can negatively impair boar libido.
Scientific research proves that protein and amino acids lysine and methionine + cystine, play an important role in sperm production. In particular, the sulphur-containing amino acids methionine/cystine affect the secretory activity of the epididymis, thus significantly enhancing sperm volume.
This effect is very marked in intensively used boars, where sperm production has been shown to be positively influenced when extra protein and methionine was added to the diet. Protein combined with adequate energy intake is very crucial for optimal sperm production.

WHY EAT BANANAS??
Bananas are a nutritious bundle, though not many people understand the healthy code that this fruit offers. There are so many reasons to go ballistic on bananas, here are a few.
1) Rich in Potassium. Potassium is a vital nutrient because it helps to regulate blood pressure, this helps to keep the heart functioning correctly.Bones also need potassium as it helps to reduce calcium excretion, which help to reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis and help to keep bones strong even in old age .
2). High in Fiber. Fiber is a natural digestive aid that helps to keep the digestive tract healthy by ensuring healthy and regular bowel movements. The fiber in bananas also help relieve the symptoms of heartburn.
3). Treatment of stomach ulcers.Bananas may be able to help protect you against stomach ulcers, or help to treat existing ones. This is due to certain compounds in bananas creating a thick protective barrier in the stomach that can help defend against the damaging effects of excess Hydrochloric acid. Bananas also contain protease-inhibitors that can help to eliminate a specific bacteria in the stomach that is found to cause ulcers to develop.
4). Rich in Many Other Nutrients such as Vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium and manganese.
5). Energy booster . Bananas contain natural compounds that help to boost the body with natural energy that is the preferred steady rate. A few fingers of banana can boost you in the morning, and keeps you charged this kind of energy is given can help to motivate you and your body to lose weight.
6). Treatment of Skin & Hair conditions. The skin of is used to treat devastating skin conditions such as psoriasis and acne. Blend the skin up with some other coconut oil of this is a great natural hair masque that can help put back some much needed moisture. It works wonders on the skin as well.
7). Stress reduction. Bananas contain tryptophan which when released into the blood stream, is converted into the serotonin. A high level of serotonin will change mood and stress levels are zero.
8).Teeth whitener. Cut a banana peel, rub the inner surface over your teeth and leave over-night and brush teeth in the morning.

EAT BANANAS AND BEAT CANCER!!!
Bananas have anticancer properties referred to as tumor necrosis factor(TNF),and the darker the banana the higher the quantity of the anticancer agent and more nutritive .Bananas are a nutritious bundle whether ripe, unripe or over ripe.Bananas have antioxidant properties that help mop up radicals which are carcinogenic.
Bananas are rich in fiber, vitamin C,B6,potassium, they are very effective for ulcer treatment and are also stress busters. Bananas convert tryptophan to serotonin(the feel good hormone),thus nullifying stress.
The dark spots on ripe bananas produce a substance called Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) that destroys cancerous tumors. The antioxidant levels rises as the banana ripens thus strengthening the immune system and increasing white blood cells count. Ripe bananas/over ripe bananas are eight times as effective as younger green siblings when it comes to elevating the cancer-fighting potential of white blood cells.
Tumor necrosis factor is a cytokine that assists cell-to-cell communication in immune responses and directs cell movement towards inflammatory and infection sites. It interferes with the growth and spread of tumor cells and triggers cell death.
When a banana ripens, the starch content consists of mainly simple, easy-to-digest sugars that elevate blood sugar levels hence diabetic individuals should monitor their intake of sugary ripe bananas.

FRUIT PEELS AS TREATMENT PROTOCOL FOR WOUND REPAIR IN DIABETIC PATIENTS.
Oral dose of Citrus Peel Extracts Promotes Wound Repair in Diabetic Rats. This research was carried out by M. Ahmad, M.N. Ansari, A. Alam and T.H. Khan and reported in science alert.
Diabetic patients wound healing is slower than the healthy individuals. Three citrus peel extracts; Lemon (Citrus limon), Grapes fruits (Citrus paradise) and Orange (Citrus sinensis) promote wound healing in experimental animals. This study investigated the effect of oral treatment with citrus peel extracts on wound repair of the skin of diabetic rats.
The extracts were estimated for vitamin C and total carotenoid contents prior to animal study. Diabetes mellitus was induced in rats by intraperitoneal injection of a single dose of streptozotocin (STZ, 75 mg kg-1 b.wt.). One week after diabetes induction, full thickness excision wounds were made in hyperglycemic rats and were divided groups, each containing 6 rats. The different test group animals were treated with different citrus peel extract orally at the dose of 400 mg kg-1 body weight daily for 12 days. The blood glucose, body weight and rate of wound closure of each rat were measured every 3rd day during the experimental period. At the end of experiment, granular tissues of wounds were removed and estimated for hydroxylproline and total protein content.
The results showed significant reduction in blood glucose and time to wound closure. Tissue growth and collagen synthesis were significantly higher as determined by total protein and hydroxyl proline content. From our experimental data, we propose that oral administration of citrus peel extracts has a therapeutic potential in the treatment of chronic wounds in diabetes.

VITAMIN C FOR DOGS.
THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF VITAMIN C.

Vitamin C is essential for proper development and maintenance of health. Vitamin C is very important for sexual health in man. Vitamin C provides protection against eye diseases, skin wrinkling, cardiovascular disease, cancer and diseases of immune system.Vitamin C is an antioxidant that preserves life and ensures relief from stress.
Vitamin C is water soluble and easily eliminated through urine. The benefits of vitamin C include boosting the body's ability to synthesize calcium , it also boosts brain function, and rebuild tissue, bones and blood vessels. Vitamin C is essential for fertility in man. Vitamin C boosts sperm count and semen volume.
The common sources are oranges, lime, lemon, bell peppers, tomato juice, pineapple, peas, leafy vegetables, peas, pawpaws e.t.c.The vitamin C content in peppers are high, and also the beta carotene of pepper make it excellent for cardiovascular health, thus reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Vitamin C is also of benefit in dogs.
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for proper body metabolic activities, thus it must be included in diet.Dogs synthesize vitamin C in their own liver, but stress, age and diseases easily disrupt the production hence it must be included in the diet.
