Fabián Tomasi, Who Exposed the Toxic Nature of Argentine Agribusiness, Dies. Tomasi suffered from a serious illness due to his exposure to pesticides and despite his physical pain, raised his voice to denounce the multimillionaire agribusiness companies responsible .Fabián Tomasi, who contracted severe toxic polyneuropathy due to his exposure to pesticides as an agricultural worker, but fought back by becoming an iconic voice against the impact of agribusiness and toxic chemicals, died on September 7. AGRIBUSINESS: Fabián Tomasi, Who Exposed the Toxic Nature of Argentine Agribusiness, Dies.
He had been in hospital for five days after having been diagnosed with pneumonia. Even as his illness inhibited his mobility and caused extreme pain, Tomasi valiantly continued to talk about the impact of chemicals (some of which are illegal), which are widely used in several provinces in the north of Argentina by agribusiness companies. This has led to thousands of cases of cancer, malformations and other related illnesses, which are often ignored or denied by the government and these companies.
Below is a piece written by Tomasi in March for La Garganta Poderosa about his life, illness, struggle and about those responsible for the suffering of his community.AGRIBUSINESS: Fabián Tomasi, Who Exposed the Toxic Nature of Argentine Agribusiness, Dies.
Many coastal provinces have been destroyed by glyphosate and other chemicals, as if they willingly forgot that we human beings have 70% genetic similarity with plants. How did they expect their poison to tell us apart? They don’t. This is why when they fumigate, only 20% remains in the vegetables and the rest is in the air that we breathe.

It is not enough to say “Get out Monsanto,” because the chains of evil today extend to the rest of the multi-million dollar companies and they are tangled up in silence. Today, there are no sicknesses without poison and there is no poison without this criminal collusion between multinational companies, the health industry, the governments and the justice system.

How to promote agribusiness with incubation hubs.
The issue of incubation hubs in agribusiness will promote agribusiness, provide more jobs and expand the agricultural value chain markets to make money . Incubation hubs will give budding entrepreneurs platforms to start and grow the business and expand making more money.
How to promote agribusiness with incubation hubs.
Agribusiness today is big business and currently only the very big are calling the shots, but with incubation hubs many more will have opportunities.
How will the incubation hubs work? 1) It is a place where entrepreneurs churn out their ideas.
2) Ideas are analysed and market possibilities are charted.
3) Production is set in motion.
4) Entrepreneur start to think about how to grow and multiply the business. Why is the incubation hub important?
Growth is the main purpose for the hub. The budding entrepreneur has to contend with a lot of factors which basically stifles growth, but if an incubation hub takes away most of these factors, then growth is inevitable.
Lets look at this idea: an entrepreneur wants to start making fruit juices ,he has to contend with power, rent of factory, employee, registration, documentation and so many hidden charges.
When the budding entrepreneur sits down to calculate all he needs to start,he will have a rethink and postpone his startup and if he strives to startup he can only go mum-and -pop and if the idea is so great, the big guys will take over and hes out of business.
Entrepreneurs in incubation hubs have a leverage such that much more can be done with his capital. Agribusiness with development of the value chains is a money spinner, but incubation hubs are the keys to drive the vision.
Thinking agribusiness, business development? think incubation hubs. Incubation hubs are more like furnished office spaces that you rent, you just go in do your business and go home.
Agribusiness hub, a place setup for production, processing, packaging, distribution and even exportation.
The entrepreneur will just come in with idea, produce, package and sell while the hub will take care of necessary documents.#NAFDAC #NEPC #employee #certification.
The incubation hubs at advanced levels of production can provide group certification of products, which will enhance productivity as well as facilitate easy tracing and tracking of projects.
The profit is worked out at a percentage that is fair for all parties and this will regulate the industry as you can easily trace and track products. Incubation hubs are a jump start or kick starter approach to grow your business.

AGRIBUSINESS: WHAT CAUSES TOMATOES TO SPLIT AND HOW DO YOU PREVENT TOMATO CRACKING.
AGRIBUSINESS: WHAT CAUSES TOMATOES TO SPLIT AND HOW DO YOU PREVENT TOMATO CRACKING. Fluctuation of temperatures sometimes can cause problems for newly growing tomato transplants. It is therefore very crucial to mulch your plants, either with organic mulch such as straws, wood chips or plastic.
The mulch will conserve water and also prevent disease from spreading. When it comes to mulch and tomatoes, plastic mulch has shown to be the best mulch to help prevent tomato cracking. Sometimes, if you have a lot of rain after a spell of really dry weather, you’ll find splitting tomatoes on your tomato plants.
AGRIBUSINESS: WHAT CAUSES TOMATOES TO SPLIT AND HOW DO YOU PREVENT TOMATO CRACKING. A split tomato problem is really caused by lack of water. If you take away water, the tomatoes cannot stay lush and juicy, and the skin will crack just as your skin cracks if you do not have enough moisture. And when the tomatoes receive a large amount of water quickly after this, they fill with water and the skin bursts at the cracks like an overfilled water balloon.
   How to Prevent Tomato Cracking
This cracking problem in tomato is more than just an aesthetic problem. You will realize that through these cracks bacteria and fungus can be introduced into the fruit and cause them to rot or provide an easy access to pests.
AGRIBUSINESS: WHAT CAUSES TOMATOES TO SPLIT AND HOW DO YOU PREVENT TOMATO CRACKING. For you to prevent splitting in tomatoes, you will have to water your tomato plants once a week with about 1-2 inches of water. To keep tomato cracking to a minimum, be sure to keep your tomato plants watered evenly on a regular basis. Protect them from a severe drought in your absence by setting up a watering system on a timer. This way you can water your farm when you aren’t home to do it and you won’t have to deal with severe tomato cracking.
It’s as easy as that to solve a split tomato problem. Finally, be sure to fertilize your tomatoes according to the instructions on your tomato fertilizer. Fertilizer or manure is important to keep the soil healthy enough to help your plants produce as many tomatoes as possible. If you follow these rules, soon enough you will have plenty of tomatoes to enjoy and to sell.

Franchising In Agribusiness :Leveraging on this model to create wealth.
Franchising, in lay terms means jumping on the success train of an established brand to start a profitable business. Franchising works in various types of business ventures with the common goal of expansion and wealth creation.
A wise man once said "if you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go with people." How does this relate to franchising? lets see.. You are an entrepreneur, you are starting your business : brand creation, awareness and customer segmentation is no small feat. It will take time, lots of money and hours of twigging the strategy.
The result you desire will surely come but at what speed? at what cost? how about man power? im so sure you get the drift. Franchising on the other hand shortens this curve, you know the niche you are interested in, study the profile of the key players and then jump on the train.
This model or the cloned version of franchising is used by big organisations to grow their brands while creating wealth for those involved. Why is Dstv or Gotv big? yes! franchising and the cloned version of franchising is the agent close to you. This is a win-win situation.,how about KFC? same story.
Franchising in agribusiness: opportunities abound to jump on the train and forget about overcoming inertia issues. #Join the moving train.
Lets look at the poultry industry: your dream is to sell processed chicken but dont have funds to start and reach your goal? How about red meat value chain?
Look at the giants in the industry, check the group with the widest coverage, check the brands that are on popular demand, visit stores/ malls/do market survey then join the moving train. Start out as a franchise to your chosen brand, and grow the business..
You still have the dream to start your own brand? it gets better. Learn the ropes while selling another brand, accumulate wealth and come up with a new product also in the poultry value chain that popped up as a business idea from feedback from customers. The time to use the network you have created to increase your net worth is here.
Franchising in agribusiness : 1) reduce start up cost. 2) Labor is reduced. 3) cost of production is zero. 4) Cost advertisement is reduced. The company already has web presence, usually your shop address will just be included in the... available at following outlets. You will just link that to your own page and in comes customers with cash.
Franchising in agribusiness is profitable but the franchisee must be innovative to ride on the brand's success.
How can investors in agribusiness use this model to empower youths while expanding the brand? join me next time.

Blockchain in Agribusiness : The Benefits of Blockchain in Agribusiness.
The first use of this innovative and complex technology was to trace and document all activities that Bitcoins undergo. In this sense, Blockchain allows cryptocurrency users to securely track and observe every transaction that a specific good or product undergoes.
Blockchain is ground breaking because its encryption coding automatically records the activity details of a good or service as a new link or block in a linear data set that is non-repudiable and transparent within a public network.
Furthermore, while Blockchain allows users to observe the history and components of a specific article, it does not allow users to erase or alter it in any way. Rather, new transactions and activities are added as additional data links.
In recent years, technology and software companies have been developing ways in which the Blockchain technology from cryptocurrencies can be employed by industries such as banking, finance, manufacturing, trade, and even agribusiness.
Though still in the early stages, these developments are proving revolutionary for many industries. Allowing banks to trace international financial transactions more securely, helping financial watchdogs to better combat money laundering, simplifying shipping and regulatory paperwork for international trade, and informing consumers as to the specific sources of their produce, are just some of the processes that Blockchain technology has the ability to simplify and make more secure.
Furthermore, Blockchain technology would allow consumers and industry regulators to easily verify the origin of products, whether a product is responsibly produced, whether it has been illegally traded, assess the carbon footprint of its supply and distribution chain, and if it has paid the necessary taxes and duties.
Ultimately, Blockchain is revolutionizing industries worldwide and, in the near future, it will allow unprecedented levels of transparency, security, and accountability in world markets.
Simultaneously, Blockchain technology will allow companies, from start-ups to large multinationals, to compete on equal footing as it relates to certifications, such as fair trade and organic sourcing.
