How to boost productivity and efficiency of women in agriculture.

How to boost productivity and efficiency of women in agriculture. The role of women in agriculture cannot be undermined but their efficiency and productivity are bedeviled by various problems.

The role of women in agriculture is significant as they form a major percentage of producers found along the chain of production from farm to table. Women engage in tilling the soil, planting various crops and some are even processors.

Women in agriculture play a vital role in food security.Women form the crust of development of rural and national economies as they make up 47% of the world’s agricultural labor force, which in some countries are as high as 75%

How to boost productivity and efficiency of women in agriculture.

According to a study about 80% of the agricultural produce is from small farmers, that are basically rural women.

These Women comprise the largest percentage of the workforce in the agricultural sector of which – 75% are food producers , 10% of these women are processors while the 15% are left with marketing

To boost productivity and efficiency of women in agriculture, there must be a deliberate move to buy the produce off them, which can be achieved by any of these methods.

 1) A platform where an off- takers scheme is the motto.
2) education on advanced food processing, branding and marketing

Boosting  productivity and efficiency of women in agriculture can also be achieved if new innovative products are produced so that more market is created,an example is the innovative method of turning garri to snacks.

How to promote agribusiness with incubation hubs.

: How to promote agribusiness with incubation hubs. Agribusiness is the new gold and many people are moving into the sector but the growth impact is not as evident as it should be because of lack of organisation/structure in the industry.

The issue of incubation hubs in agribusiness will promote agribusiness, provide more jobs and expand the  agricultural value chain markets to make money . Incubation hubs will give budding entrepreneurs platforms to start and grow the business and expand making more money.

How to promote agribusiness with incubation hubs.

Agribusiness today is big business and currently only the very big are calling the shots, but with incubation hubs many more will have opportunities.

How will the incubation hubs work? 1) It is a place where entrepreneurs churn out their ideas.

 2) Ideas are analysed and market possibilities are charted.

 3) Production is set in motion.

 4) Entrepreneur start to think about how to grow and multiply the business. Why is the incubation hub important?

Growth is the main purpose for the hub. The budding entrepreneur has to contend with a lot of factors which basically stifles growth, but if an incubation hub takes away most of these factors, then growth is inevitable.

Lets look at this idea: an entrepreneur wants to start making fruit juices ,he has to contend with power, rent of factory, employee, registration, documentation and so many hidden charges.

When the budding entrepreneur sits down to calculate all he needs to start,he will have a rethink and postpone his startup and if he strives to startup he can only go mum-and -pop and if the idea is so great, the big guys will take over and hes out of business.

Entrepreneurs in incubation hubs have a leverage such that much more can be done with his capital. Agribusiness with development of the value chains is a money spinner, but incubation hubs are the keys to drive the vision.

Thinking agribusiness, business development? think incubation hubs. Incubation hubs are more like furnished office spaces that you rent, you just go in do your business and go home.

Agribusiness hub, a place setup for production, processing, packaging, distribution and even exportation.

The entrepreneur will just come in with idea, produce, package and sell while the hub will take care of necessary documents.#NAFDAC #NEPC #employee #certification.

The incubation hubs  at advanced levels of production can provide  group certification of products, which will enhance productivity as well as facilitate easy tracing and tracking of projects.

The profit is worked out at a percentage that is fair for all parties and this will regulate the industry as you can easily trace and track products. Incubation hubs  are a jump start or kick starter approach to grow your business.

ECHBEE FOODS :Accelerating the sustainable development goals with the cassava value chain.

Malnutrition is found in a large population of people around the world, with 795 million people not having enough food to live a healthy and active life. Sub Sahara Africa accounts for a large population of under nourished and malnourished people.

Malnutrition which stems from inadequate food both in quality and quantity resulting in stunted growth and development is the bane of many developing and underdeveloped countries.

The goal to end poverty and hunger has the root at preventing malnutrition in children especially as well as adults. The growth rate and intellectual capacity in areas where there is malnutrition is very low with high prevalence of diseases and subsequently death

.One out of six children which is roughly about 100 million in developing countries is underweight and one in four of the world's children are stunted. In developing countries the rate is one in three with 66 million primary school-age children attending classes hungry across the developing world, with 23 million in Africa alone.

Women that are malnourished are at high risk during pregnancy as adequate nutrients for growth and nurturing of fetus is not available leading to physical strains, emotional imbalance and exposure to various diseases and infection as body immune system is compromised.

Poor nutrition causes nearly 45% of deaths in children under five ,which is about 3.1 million children each year. Empowerment, education and encouragement of farmers especially women will go a long way to curb malnutrition and prevent deaths in women and children.

When women farmers are given the same access to resources as men, they will reduce the number of hungry people in the world by up to 150 million. Malnutrition in found all over the country but its more prevalent in certain areas than others.41% of children under 5 years of age are stunted and 23% underweight with a prevalence of vitamin A deficiency reaching 29.5%.

The prevalence of vitamin A deficiency is a public health concern that WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION has listed Nigeria amongst countries with high risk of Vitamin A deficiency(VAD) The VAD increases the risk of disease, death in children ,visual impairment,night-blindness in pregnant and lactating women

.The introduction of food rich in vitamin A will go a long way to ensure healthy lifestyle for the people.Educating people about food combinations, additives and meal preparations will expose people to food exploration for health and well-being.

Cassava called Manihot esculenta, is extensively cultivated as an annual crop in tropical and subtropical regions for its edible starchy tuberous root, a major source of carbohydrates.

Cassava is the third-largest source of food carbohydrates in the tropics, after rice and maize. Cassava is a major staple food in the developing world, providing a basic diet for over half a billion people. CASSAVA VALUE CHAIN AND FOOD SECURITY.

Echbee Food has found a new niche where garri a cassava by-product can be turned into nutritious wholesome foods and snacks.
