Agribusiness : How to fight cancer naturally with turmeric.

How to fight cancer naturally with turmeric. Extensive research is being conducted in many laboratories across the globe on the anti-cancer properties of turmeric. Being a powerful anti-oxidant, turmeric can protect cells from getting damaged. Turmeric is now being used as a complementary therapy with conventional cancer treatment. Laboratory tests have found that turmeric interferes with many critical molecular pathways that cause the growth and spread of cancer. Recent studies have concentrated on the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric and if this could help with the prevention and treatment of cancer. Scientists believe that the active ingredient of turmeric, curcumin is a well-known antioxidant and thus help in fighting free radicals which cause cell damage. Turmeric is also known to interfere with several key molecular pathways which lead to cancer development. Turmeric kills cancer cells One of the principal reasons why turmeric is becoming cherished as a health aid is due to its anti-cancer property. Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, has been widely researched upon for its anti-cancer effect. The exact cause of cancer has not been identified but it is thought of as a disturbance in cell signaling pathways that gradually affects proteins that regulate cell life and activity. This disturbance causes the cells to be immortal and hyperproliferative and thus cancer spreads throughout the body. A study published in Biofactors, 2013 states that curcumin’s anti-cancer action is a result of inhibition of cell signaling pathways at multiple levels. A recent study published in Molecules 2015 identifies various targets that curcumin acts on to exert anti-cancer effect and these include :1) Transcription factors (they control the expression of genes) 2)Growth factors. 3)Inflammatory proteins. 4)Cancer causing molecules.5) Various proteins involved in regulation of cell cycle and cell death This multi-faceted action of curcumin makes it a novel anti-cancer agent that holds promise for future treatment options in cancer.

Curcumin offers potential therapy for cancers caused by HPV.

Curcumin offers potential therapy for #cancers caused by HPV. Curcumin, an antioxidant found in the curry spice turmeric, has been found to slow or limit the activity of the HPV virus, which causes oral and cervical cancers. Turmeric -- the familiar yellow spice common in Indian and Asian cooking -- may play a therapeutic role in oral cancers associated with human papillomavirus, according to new research published in ecancermedicalscience. One of the herb's key active ingredients -- an antioxidant called curcumin -- appears to have a quelling effect on the activity of human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is a virus that promotes the development of cervical and oral cancer. There is no cure, but curcumin may offer a means of future control. The research indicates that curcumin turns down the expression of HPV in infected oral #cancer cells by downregulating the levels of cellular transcription factors AP-1 and NF-kB. These findings could suggest a new therapeutic role for curcumin in cancer control. #cancer

RESEARCH: Curcumin may help overcome drug-resistant tuberculosis.

RESEARCH: Curcumin may help overcome drug-resistant tuberculosis. Curcumin may help overcome drug-resistant tuberculosis.New research indicates that curcumin -- a substance in turmeric that is best known as one of the main components of curry powder -- may help fight drug-resistant tuberculosis. RESEARCH: Curcumin may help overcome drug-resistant tuberculosis. In Asia, turmeric is used to treat many health conditions and it has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and perhaps even anticancer properties. Investigators found that by stimulating human immune cells called macrophages, curcumin was able to successfully remove Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative bacterium of tuberculosis, from experimentally infected cells in culture. The process relied on inhibiting the activation of a cellular molecule called nuclear factor-kappa B. The ability of curcumin to modulate the immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis points to a potential new tuberculosis treatment that would be less prone to the development of drug resistance.

How to use turmeric for dog's health.

Turmeric is one of the most potent natural anti-inflammatories available, says Dr. Randy J. Horwitz, the medical director of the Arizona Centre for Integrative Medicine and assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Horwitz also cites a 2006 University of Arizona study that found this potent anti-inflammatory to reduce the symptoms associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Clinical studies have shown that curcumin in turmeric is a powerful antioxidant. Turmeric. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals which cause the painful inflammation and damage to joints affected by arthritis. The anti-inflammatory properties, combined with the fact that turmeric is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, suggests that it’s also useful for disinfecting and treating skin injuries. Research suggests that when using it topically, mix it with honey. This creates a paste that you can easily apply to wounds. Curcumin is believed to stimulate bile production necessary for the digestion of fat in the liver. Active dogs need at least 20% fat in their diet; therefore, bile production is critical for good health. In a study at UCLA, doctors found that curcumin seemed to block the cancer promoting enzyme that stimulates the growth of head and neck cancer. The Department of Small Animal Clinical Scientists has conducted studies that show that curcumin can inhibit tumor growth and may even shrink existing tumors. This has to do with the spice’s amazing ability to shut down blood vessels that feed tumors.Antioxidant properties are also helpful in reducing the negative side effects of chemotherapy. The animal health industry benefits from the turmeric uses in the following ways;1) Aids in the treatment of epilepsy. 2)Helps relieve allergies. 3)Helps in preventing the formation of cataracts. 4) ) Heals stomach ailments, such as digestive disorders, and reduces gas and bloating. 5) Acts as a binding agent and therefore great for treating diarrhea. 6) Aids in fat metabolism and weight management. 7)High in fiber and rich in vitamins and mineral. Feed the the powder, which is readily available, Sprinkle it right on top of your pet’s food and mix or, if you home cook, you can add it to the recipe.
