In Nigeria, 37 per cent of children, or 6 million children, are stunted (chronically malnourished or low height for age), more than half of them severely. In addition, 18 percent of children suffer from wasting (acutely malnourished or low weight for height), half of them severely. Twenty-nine per cent of children are underweight (both acutely and chronically malnourished or low weight for age), almost half of them severely. (UNICEF.) Provision of nutritious foods along side food fortification has been advocated to stop malnutrition in children. Vitamin A foods have been used to help the children with various food types such as the orange fleshed sweet potato and yellow garri. The vitamin A supplementation for children under 5 years increased significantly between 2007 and 2011, from 37 per cent to 65 per cent, in 2013, only 41 per cent of children under 5 years had received vitamin A supplementation during the previous six months. The rise in the number of malnourished children in the country prompted ECHBEE FOODS,to formulate nutritious foods and snacks from yellow garri that is affordable and readily accessible. Mothers are enjoined to give nutritious meals to their kids to keep them strong and healthy. Echbee Foods turns ordinary garri into extraordinary products by adding other nutrients to make the garri a balanced meal. width="1200" data-original-height="1600" /> Join the race to stop malnutrition in #Nigeria, #endpoverty and #savechildren. #feedthefuture.
