AGRIBUSINESS: How to make homemade weedkiller with vinegar.

AGRIBUSINESS: How to make homemade weedkiller with vinegar. How to make homemade weedkiller with vinegar. The easiest recipe for vinegar weed killer is simply to use vinegar at full strength, without adding anything else. White vinegar is most often used for this purpose, although any vinegar will work. Vinegar is generally a pet-safe weed killer, as well. There are numerous recipes used by gardeners. It depends upon your own experience and opinion which is best to use. Several different recipes are given below, followed by warnings and other information which will be helpful to you. 1)Vinegar alone - Full strength, undiluted 18 percent acidity vinegar can be an effective weed killer. 2)Vinegar and Soap - Mix dishwashing soap at a rate of one ounce per gallon of full strength vinegar. This mixture can double as an insecticide. Be aware of this as you're using it. Also remember that it will kill your good plants as well, so be sure not to get it onto any of your flowers or vegetable plants. Please see the dangers section below for warnings about harmful chemicals in some detergents. 3)Vinegar, Soap, and Salt - One gallon vinegar, one cup of salt, one tablespoon dishwashing liquid. Mix together and apply. Please see the dangers section below for warnings about harmful chemicals in some detergents. 4)Vinegar and Lemon Juice - Many people say that adding lemon juice to vinegar increases its effectiveness as a weed killer. This is because it increases the acidity levels. Adding anywhere from one tablespoon to one cup per gallon is a common recipe. 5)Vinegar and Essential Oil - Mix full strength vinegar with one tablespoon of essential oil of clove or orange. Some gardeners say the oil helps the mixture stick to the plants better to increase effectiveness. Vinegar as weedkiller

Roundup Made With Vinegar (Rather Than Glyphosate) Is Now Available .

Roundup Made With Vinegar (Rather Than Glyphosate) Is Now Available . Roundup is a pesticide (a weed-killer or herbicide) containing the active ingredient glyphosate. It is a controversial herbicide that is the most heavily used pesticide in the world. And since the introduction of Roundup Ready crops that have been genetically modified to survive repeated Roundup applications, the use is only increasing on farms. Several posts here, here, and here have discussed research and controversies with Roundup, and the numerous health concerns (including that it is a "probable carcinogen"), as well as the residues that are in our food (and allowed to be there). A new product called Roundup, but containing acetic acid instead of glyphosate, is now available at garden centers in Austria. The product is called Roundup AC is being manufactured by Scotts (the name is licensed from Monsanto), and it uses 10% acetic acid in place of glyphosate. To use ordinary vinegar as a weed-killer: Use on a hot sunny dry day. Just spray or pour some on the offending weeds - and whatever the vinegar touches will soon die. Unfortunately the weeds may come back after a week or two (the root systems may not be killed off) - so just reapply vinegar. Or can make the effects of the vinegar stronger by adding one cup salt to a gallon vinegar or a little (a teaspoon or more) dish detergent to the vinegar. Or combine all three ingredients when needing permanent removal of vegetation from an area such as sidewalk cracks or gravel driveways. How to use vinegar as a weed killer.

How to use vinegar as a weed killer.Vinegar is a natural product, usually derived from grain, apples or grapes. It is distilled through a fermentation process. The vinegar you buy is typically labeled at 5% acidity. This means it contains 5% acetic acid, the active ingredient.

Acetic acid is what makes vinegar a weed killer. Actually, it makes vinegar a plant killer. Acetic acid, from any source, will kill most vegetation because it draws all the moisture out of the leaf.Vinegar can also be used to promote growth of plants in drought regions. It is fast.

Spraying full strength vinegar on a plant in full sun will often result in a withered, brown plant in only a few hours, for sensitive weeds, or by the next day in tougher plants.  This is because it is non-selective, meaning it might kill everything it touches.

This limits the usefulness of a vinegar weed killer, to the extent that you are able to control over-spray that would get on desirable plants.

THE POWER OF VINEGAR!!!

Vinegar is acetic acid and it has antibacterial properties aside from it being a powerful cleaning agent. The benefits of acetic acid are utilized in the food industry where its utilized to clean food, table tops, food cabinets e.t.c. Check out older posts on vinegar. Vinegar can be used in various strength depending on what you want to use if for; the vinegar-water combination can be used as follows 1) can be used to clean and disinfect wounds. 2) as a flea repellent. 3) clean and disinfect tables, kitchen utensils. 4) wash fruits and vegetables. A new study now reveals that vinegar can be used in treatment of burn wounds;Infections of burn wounds are difficult to treat with traditional antibiotics as they do not effectively reach the wound, and the infecting organisms are often highly antibiotic resistant. The study, published in PLOS ONE, demonstrated that low concentrations of acetic acid can be used to treat bio films, and therefore could be used as alternatives to topical (surface applied) antimicrobials and traditional antimicrobial dressings for preventing bacterial colonization of burns. Miss Fenella Halstead, NIHR SRMRC Clinical Scientist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, explained, "As resistance to antibiotics grows, we need to find ways to replace them with alternative topical agents that can kill bacteria and help our burns patients. The evidence in this study offers great promise to be a cheap and effective measure to do just that." Read more about study here; http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/09/150915105208.htm

How to use vinegar as a cleaning agent.

Clean it, clean it and clean it again. Cleaning has always been my passion, I just love to clean. I cherish a neat and beautiful environment; l can’t stand filth at all. My cleaning passion dates way, way back when I was a teen, if anything needs a shine, I’m ready to clean. My passion made me use a lot of unconventional products to achieve my goal of super clean, germ free environment. Back in the days, our kitchen cabinet provided the agents that I used for my cleaning experiments. Cleaning our sitting room was a herculean task, we had terrazzo floors with some areas covered with Persian rugs; I will sweep the entire living room, then I will wash the terrazzo floors with detergent in water mixed with vinegar, and I will rinse same with clean water laced with vinegar. The vinegar-water combination gives me a super shine and also disinfected our living room. The furniture was a mix of upholstery with massive wood works as arm rest and stand; this I also clean with the vinegar-water combination. We also had a bar made of colorful tiles, this I also cleaned with the vinegar- water combo. The vinegar- water combo was made in different concentrations depending on where I want to use it. Once a stain was on the rug ; I damped a clothed with scouring powder applied to the spot, and cleaned the spot with a double strength of vinegar-water combo, and like magic ,no more stains. Vinegar is normally used to clean vegetables, salads, also as food preservatives, but in my hands: Vinegar is my magic solution, I add to laundry soap in washing machine. My kitchen table gets a wipe with my vinegar- water combo. I use vinegar to clean and disinfect wounds; I also use it as a flea repellent. When I was experimenting in those days never knew I would make commercial products. The nature of my work warrants safety at all times so #hand washing# has always been my practice. I wash after I touch my patients, after a visit to a farm, and any procedure, and as soon as I get home I was my hands again. Hand sanitizer are always in my bag just in case, I’m in a tight spot where there is no water, I always play safe. I remember an occasion during the EBOLA CRISIS, some friends were trying to figure out which sanitizer to buy, they asked me which was so effective this is what I said; get a bottle of vinegar, buy liquid gel used for making soap, buy isopropyl alcohol(I.P.A) and fragrance, color and bam you have your own hand sanitizer. Vinegar ( acetic acid ) is an antibacterial that kills over 100 pathogenic organisms including the E.COLI (0157). A food scientist @ the VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE: noted that acetic acid (vinegar) kills 100 organisms but if you use it with HYDROGEN PEROXIDE it will get rid of 100,000 organisms. This combination is of great value in the food industry especially the meat industry. The meat vans are washed ,then sprayed with acetic acid, and hydrogen peroxide is also sprayed then vans are left to dry. THE ACETIC ACID/ HYDROGEN PEROXIDE ARE NOT MIXED IN THE SAME CONTAINER, BUT ARE USED ONE AFTER THE OTHER TO PREVENT RELEASE OF TOXIC GAS. VINEGAR IN MY HANDS, so much more than you imagine.
