Why is everybody interested in the boerboel? i guess because of the qualities outlined and because so many breeders just shifted focus to this breed, but this breed is not ideal for every one. what are your needs, and what do you need to look for? so you do not get a non identifiable breed as a boer boel. The boer boel

The boerboel is not a pure breed dog, its a cross of bull mastiff, rottweiler and the pits-bull, this breed is a working dog. i decided to write on the boerboel to clarify some issues and also to let people know what they are getting into, when they purchase a boerboel pup. The boerboel is bred to guard and protect without been aggressive. The boerboel qualities that makes them so lovable are 1) sensitive 2) have a sixth sense they can detect if your visitor is a friend or foe.3) confident, and fearless.
The boerboel needs an owner that is the leader of the pack, needs dominance. The required exercise for boerboels are much more than ordinary dogs, they are not apartment dogs, they need large fenced yard to run and play,they need long daily walks , its so essential. Boerboels require firm control, proper training, this includes obedience and socialization. Boerboels are big with the male been bigger than the females, come in the following basic co lours,yellow, white, brindle ,brown and grey with or without white markings. There outer coat is coarse and straight while the undercoat is soft and dense. The life expectancy is about 12 years, which is so old when you compare to humans, when a boerboel is 1yr old, its equivalent to 16 yrs of age, at 2 yrs its equivalent to 24yrs in man,while at 3yrs of age the boerboel is equivalent to30 yrs in man, so you can see that they really do grow old with proper care and vaccinations.

RABIES IDENTIFICATION.

THE FURIOUS FORM ; IT IS OBVIOUS THE ANIMAL HAS SOMETHING, THE DOG BARKS AT EVERY MOVING OBJECTS, DROOLING SALIVA EVERY TIME, THE EYES ARE WIDE OPEN AND THE DOG IS VERY AGGRESSIVE, ANY BITE OR CONTAMINATION OF MUCOUS MEMBRANE BY SALIVA RELEASES THE SALIVA INTO THE HOST.

RABIES.

RABIES IS A VIRAL INFECTION OF WARM BLOODED ANIMALS, AND IT IS OF IMPORTANCE BECAUSE ITS ZOONOTIC. ZOONOTIC DISEASES ARE PASSED FROM ANIMALS TO MAN AND RABIES IS ONE OF SUCH. RABIES INFECTION USUALLY OCCURS FROM A BITE OF A RABID DOG, THUS IT IS IMPORTANT TO VACCINATE YOUR PETS AT 12WEEKS AND THEN RE-VACCINATE ONCE EVERY YEAR. RABIES INFECTION OCCURS IN DOGS,CATS, RACCOONS,SKUNKS AND BATS. THE RABIES VIRUS HAS A LOT OF RESERVOIRS THAT ARE AREA-SPECIFIC. IN URBAN AREAS, DOGS AND CATS ARE USUAL RESERVOIR, THIS IS WHY ITS IMPORTANT TO VACCINATE YOUR PETS. IN THE WILD, BATS , SKUNKS ARE USUAL RESERVOIRS AND IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO AREAS THAT HAVE HIGH BAT POPULATION, TAKE THE PROPHYLACTIC HUMAN ANTI-RABIES IMMUNOGLOBULIN FOR PROTECTION. RABIES IS OF ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE,THUS IT IS BETTER TO PREVENT IT BY VACCINATION AS THERE IS NO TREATMENT FOR RABIES.

PUPPY HEALTH.

THE PUPS ARE PRONE TO HELMINTH INFESTATION,HENCE THEY SHOULD BE WORMED. THE BITCH IS USUALLY WORMED PRIOR TO MATING AS PUPS CAN BE INFECTED VIA PLACENTA.PUPPY HAS BEEN IN YOUR HOME , ITS TIME TO SEE YOUR VET. THE VET WILL CHECK YOUR VACCINATION RECORDS, THE WORMING STATUS AND GENERALLY WILL CHECK YOUR PUP. THE PUPS ARE WORMED AT 4 WEEKS , THEN ONCE EVERY MONTH UNTIL THEY ARE 6 MONTHS, THEN AFTER THIS YOU DE WORM, 4 OR 5 TIMES IN A YEAR. PUPS ARE SO SUSCEPTIBLE TO CANINE DISTEMPER HENCE THE POLYVALENT VACCINE OF DHLPP IS TO BE ADMINISTERED AT 9WEEKS ,THEN IN HIGH RISK AREAS YOU GIVE AT 12 WEEKS ALSO. PUPPIES ARE TO BE VACCINATED AGAINST RABIES AT 12WEEKS, PLS NOTE THESE VACCINES ARE ADMINISTERED ONCE A YEAR.DOGY LOVER IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO VACCINATE YOUR PETS SO THAT THEY DO NOT BECOME PESTS. HOMECOMING.

THE PUP HAS ARRIVED,I SHOULD SAY THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE PREPARED THE DOG QUARTERS BEFORE ARRIVAL, TO MAKE THE PUP COMFORTABLE, GET SOMETHING FROM THE KENNEL TO HELP MAKE IT FEEL AT HOME. THE PUP IS INTRODUCED TO THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE, AND YOU HELP YOUR PUP TO ADJUST. FEEDING, GIVE BALANCED DIET, YOU CAN EASILY GET GOOD PUP FOOD IN THE MARKET, HOLD IT, BEFORE YOU RUSH OFF TO THE STORE TO GET ONE, ASK THE BREEDER WHAT HE WAS GIVING, YOU SHOULD CONTINUE WITH THIS FEED , FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN GRADUALLY INTRODUCE THE PUP TO THE NEW STUFF, TO PREVENT REFUSAL OR STOMACH COMPLICATIONS. HOW DO YOU INTRODUCE THE NEW FEED: GIVE THE OLD ONE FOR 2 DAYS, THEN ON DAY 3,GIVE PART OF THE NEW FEED AND PART OLD, ALTER THE % OF OLD TO NEW UNTIL THE FEED IS 100%NEW. THE PUP IS SMALL SO HE WILL NEED TO URINATE OFTEN, SO TAKE YOUR DOG OUT VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING, AFTER A MEAL, AND AFTER NAPPING .
