How to avoid monkeypox virus.

How to avoid monkeypox virus. When the Federal Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that the outbreak of monkeypox had spread to 11 states with 74 recorded cases, apprehension, as would be expected, is naturally growing among the populace.

There is concern that the outbreak may grow to the level of an epidemic if steps are not taken by the citizenry, to break the chain of transmission.

A casual look at the monstrous blisters all over the face and body of an infected person, when the disease is at the advanced stage (as seen in the picture on this page) should be enough incentive to make every effort to avoid getting infected. Since the outbreak occurred in Bayelsa State on September 22, 2017, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said the virus has marched into Rivers, Ekiti, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Ogun and Cross River and five other states. Monkeypox is a viral zoonosis (a virus that is transmitted to humans from animals) which shows symptoms in humans similar to those seen in the past in smallpox patients, although less severe.

Smallpox was eradicated in 1980. According to medicine.com, monkeypox occurs sporadically in some parts of Africa. The symptoms of monkeypox include severe headache, fever, back pains among others. Other physical manifestations are huge rashes, the size of which are far bigger than those seen when a person has chicken pox. The rashes spread out all over the body of the infected person.

37 Job Openings For Young Nigerians In UN – Amina Mohammed.

37 Job Openings For Young Nigerians In UN – Amina Mohammed. There are 37 career openings for young Nigerians under the United Nations bureaucracy, according to UN deputy secretary-general, Amina Mohammed. Mrs. Mohammed disclosed this at a Cultural Night organised by Nigerians working at the United Nations Systems. She said the openings are available via the Junior Professional Officers’ (JPO) Programme, including internship for young graduates. According to her, Nigeria has the opportunity to sponsor its youth for UN careers through the JPO. But Nigeria has not seized the opportunity in a long while, she noted. JPO is a programme for the young people to come and grow their career at the UN and it has 37 positions for Nigeria – one for each of the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory. The JPO programme provides young professionals with hands-on experience in multilateral technical co-operation, and is one of the best ways to gain entry level positions within the UN system. Some Nigerian UN staff at the event..JPOs are sponsored by their own government, which fund their placement in one of a range of UN organisations. At the cultural night, Mrs. Mohammed asked older Nigerians to pave the way for the youth by creating leadership opportunities for them . She urged them to stop competing with the younger ones for employment opportunities.

Elumelu In Africapitalism.

Elumelu In Africapitalism. Few Africans have talked about pan Africanism and made it happen. And one of such people is Tony Elumelu, the self-appointed champion of AFRICAPITALISM -Afrocentric entrepreneurship aimed at stimulating economic growth towards the elimination of poverty in the continent of Africa. T he banker turned entrepreneur through his HEIRS holding-a diversified conglomerate, has in the past three years been leveraging on his philanthropic platform, Tony Elumelu Foundation, TEF to turn the whole African landscape of 54 countries into a sort of investment tapestry, just like a visual artist paints his vision on canvas. His commitment to spend a jaw-dropping sum of $100m in the next 10 years empowering budding entrepreneurs is so strikingly remarkable that skeptics would have thought that it was a mere gimmick. But as it has turned out, Elumelu is not a politician that may be given to hoaxes. Being a businessman who is fighting a cause, as the youths say in street lingo, Elumelu has been putting his money where his mouth is by consistently training and seeding at least 1,000 entrepreneurs from across the continent with $10,000 each which translates into $10m annually in the past three years. Tony Elumelu is replicating the Africanism initiative via the invitation of 1,000 African entrepreneurs to a gathering and commitment of $100m for the development of entrepreneurial spirit and culture .
