AfDB, Brazil to Train African Youth in Cassava Processing. The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Brazil-Africa Institute (BAI) have launched the Youth Technical Training Program (YTTP) - an initiative that aims to train young African professionals in research and technology transfer, contributing to local capacity development.
The YTTP initiative is sponsored under the South-South Cooperation Trust Fund (SSCTF) and will consists of an array of professional development schemes to meet diverse needs of African countries by utilizing Brazil's technology, skills and knowledge. Focus areas include agriculture and rural development, health, education, information and communication, infrastructure, and the creative industry.

Nigeria plans national dialogue on revival of agricultural marketing boards. The Federal Government says it is planning a national dialogue to consider the re-establishment of marketing boards.
The Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, disclosed the plan in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Abuja on Sunday.
Mr. Ogbeh who was speaking on the country’s 57th Independence anniversary, said that although marketing boards facilitated exportation of agricultural produce in the past, there was need for stakeholders to deliberate on their revival. Agriculture is Nigeria’s biggest employer of labour – World Bank.A General Household Survey of the World Bank, shows that the agriculture sector is the largest employer of labour and income-generating activity in Nigeria.
The study, which contains information on household socioeconomic in the country, was launched by the World Bank Living Standards Measurement Study in collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics ,Agriculture is Nigeria’s biggest employer of labour – World Bank.

The Chairman, Heirs Holdings and Founder, Tony Elumelu Foundation, Mr. Tony Elumelu, has called on African leaders and development institutions to help address the deepening job and employment crisis bedevilling the continent by lending support and paying more attention to the agricultural sector, creating access to electricity and developing entrepreneurship.
Elumelu, who said this while speaking on the theme: ‘How do we create 10 million jobs by 2020?’ at the Youth Connekt Africa Summit in Rwanda recently, opined that access to electricity and increased focus in the agricultural sector would enhance entrepreneurship and tackle the challenge of unemployment through the creation of more jobs in the continent. Oyo youths to get monthly stipend under agric scheme. Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has unveiled a new agriculture scheme under which participants, mostly youths, will earn N10, 000 monthly.
